Meet our newest designer— Zach Barr! Zach joined us a few weeks ago and has been a great addition to the JB team. Below is a little Q&A we conducted to see how he plans to set the “Barr” high for us!
Q: Where did you grow up, go to school, study?
A: I grew up in Deerfield, a northern Chicago suburb, and I went to school at The Evergreen State College where I got a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Q: What are you binge-watching on Netflix right now?
A: I’ve been catching up on “House of Cards” and re-watching “Wet Hot American Summer.”
Q: Who’s your favorite band/music artist right now?
A: Right now I’ve been listening to SZA a lot, she’s great. And my disinterest in the Grateful Dead has finally been broken, they’re perfect to have on during a hot summer day.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working in downtown Chicago?
A: Probably being close to Millennium Park and going to all the free shows and concerts there.
Q: If you had to pick one meal to eat the rest of your life what would it be?
A: It would definitely be a charcuterie plate.
Q: It’s the start of the weekend and time to have a little fun, so what do you do?
A: I stop at the Tasty Freeze and get a chocolate ice cream cone to start off the night.
Q: If you could be best friends with one celebrity, dead or alive, who it would be?
A: Salvador Dali because he just seems like a bunch of fun.
Q: If you won a free vacation, where would you go and why?
A: Oh I would definitely go to Japan. I figure I’ll never be able to go to outer space, but Tokyo seems like a good compromise.
Q: What interested you the most about JB in your job hunt?
A: The team! Everyone I met with was super welcoming and talented. Also I really like branding and packaging, so there’s that.
Q: What are you most looking forward to as you begin your journey with JB?
A: I’m really excited to see the branding and packaging we do for start-ups out in the world. I’m also hoping to add to the rooftop garden we have.
